A vision of the future — Amsterdam, the Netherlands
master design studio The Why Factory with MVRDV
In the coming 30 years, the population of the Netherlands will increase with 5 million people. What if they were housed in the metropolitan area of Amsterdam? With 42 Master students in the Why Factory studio, led by Winy Maas and in collaboration with the AMS Institute, we propose a collection of ideas of a possible future of Amsterdam and measure an impact. This may be the future of Amsterdam – a dense, inclusive, accessible, agricultural, biodiverse, blue, open, historical, productive, active, and circular city. In the premiere below, a compilation of interventions is presented that offer a guide from AMS to AM5.
