2nd year final studio / TU Delft, Marywood University, University of Maryland / February 2018
Location: Bardini Museum, Florence, Italy
The broad collection of Bardini, a famous art dealer, stored in the Bardini Museum was in need of an expansion and a new entrance. Framing was inspired by the way Bardini framed his precious objects. An underground public space provides visitors a place to rest and recollect their thoughts after a visit. From ground level, extruding elements that can be spotted from the street, frame the space below. Protruding trees add a green element to the otherwise empty street. A new way of circulation gives the visitors a refined way of experiencing the museum, allowing for both walking and non-walking visitors.
This project was part of the Honours Programme Bachelor of TU Delft, in collaboration with students from the Univerity of Maryland and Marywood University, US, who all came together in Florence to design under supervision of a professional Italian architect.
